By  Meya||   25 Greatest Cult TV Shows

Supernatural is at #11 on EW.com's 25 Greatest Cult TV Shows Ever:

Premise: Two hot brothers (Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles) get in their hot car and vanquish all manner of demonic beasties. With style.
Why It's Cult: Because some members of the show's small but passionate fanbase have taken to writing fan fiction. And any show that inspires people to want to continue the heroes' adventures on their own time qualifies as cult. (We'll not mention that some of that fan fiction has the Winchester brothers doing things that brothers shouldn't be doing. It's called ''Wincest.'' Nuff said, ja?) —Marc Bernardin

  By  Meya|  |   CW sourcies

The 2009 Sourcies ended, with Supernatural once again dominating the competition, taking 18 awards.

"Sam and Dean dominated Best Friends Forever Moment, Best Fight, Most Heartbreaking Moment and Most Dramatic Meltdown. Bobby Singer took Best Recurring Character and The Voice of Wisdom Award (although he only just squeaked by over Haley for that one.) Ruby got some recognition -- although most of it was bad. You awarded her and Sam the Most Unexpected Hookup title, crowned her hte queen of the I Love To Hate You Award, and reveled in her death in the Best Finally! It's About Time! Moment. Castiel dominated the Best Newcomer category, and Alastair took the Best Villain honors. The boys got some individual awards as well: You celebrated Sam's silky locks in the Best Hair category, and marveled at how far he fell in the Biggest WTF? Moment. Dean got recognition with the Best Kiss (lucky Anna!), and you declared his reaction to the fluffy little kitty the Funniest Moment. The show as a whole took Best Special Episode, Biggest Family Drama and Best Cliffhanger. Whew!"

All sneak peaks:

By  Meya||   Lucifer, call girls, and Oprah

When Misha Collins heard that Oprah Winfrey had shut down Michigan Avenue this week to tape her talk show, he was immediately struck by a similar storyline in his CW series “Supernatural.”

“As if this woman needed to feel that she had anymore power,” he told me during a phone interview as Winfrey greeted her audience outside RedEye’s windows on Tuesday. “I hope Oprah doesn’t crowd your city too much for too long. That could be kind of apocalyptic in and of itself.”

Collins knows about the apocalypse, at least the one his character, the angel Castiel, will try to prevent when “Supernatural” returns for its fifth season at 8 p.m. Thursday. (See video sneaks here.) Castiel is something of a fallen angel now. Having been fired from heaven, he teams with demon-hunting brothers Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles), but “we’re also being collectively pursued by all of the forces of heaven and all of the forces of hell.”

Collins, who studied social theory at the University of Chicago, says the season is intense.

“That’s a lot of material for the writers to work with,” he said of the season’s mythology. “It’s hugely ambitious and I think they are tackling it head-on and doing a great job of it. We’re confronting Lucifer and the apocalypse. It’s no small potatoes.”

The latest “Supernatural” storyline may be an epic confrontation that could lead to the end of humanity (for more on that, check on The Watcher’s Eric Kripke interview), but Collins says the most hellish experience on set is trying not to crack up laughing.

“Sometimes it’s too much fun. Sometimes it really is frustrating and hard [to not laugh],” he said. “We shot a scene that had a cushion-fart gag in it last week which nearly held up production. We simply could not get through it.”

As has been the case throughout the show’s four previous seasons, what we see onscreen isn’t all gloom and doom. With Castiel striving to have human experiences this season, Collins gets to have some fun onscreen as well. Watch for Dean to take his angelic buddy to a brothel this season.

“Yes, he’s trying to deflower the angel,” Collins said, laughing, “and it doesn’t go quite according to plan.”

Collins talked more about Castiel’s future, working on “Supernatural” and how goofing off at the University of Chicago prepared him to become an actor.

How is acting opposite the devil, who I see from all these Twitter posts today is being played by Mark Pellegrino?
We haven’t had any scenes together yet, but I imagine it’s going to be good. Actually, Mark and I did a movie together several years ago. If it’s anything like that was, it’s great working opposite the devil. He’s a really good actor.

Did you ever think you’d be playing an angel?
No, I never did. In fact I had done a string of sort of bad-guy characters for a couple of years. I played a serial killer, assassins. Actually I played two serial killers now that I reflect. I was thinking, “I gotta get out of this bad-gay stuff.” Then the angel role came along and I thought “Fantastic!” Except that I kind of have a slightly bad-guy angel, but it’s a very welcome reprieve for me.

Castiel’s not like a white-robed, cheery, fluffy-winged angel, is he?
No, there is no harp in this ensemble.

That would be funny though.
[Laughs.] They should work that in.

There’s humor on “Supernatural,” but not that light. It’s a fairly dark show with dark stories. Is it serious on the set?
It’s not at all a dark set behind the scenes. I think that the biggest challenge to shooting the show is not laughing during takes, because there are always some antics going on. It’s a lot of fun and literally, sometimes it’s too much fun. Sometimes it really is frustrating and hard. We were talking about the apocalypse and simply could not stop laughing last week. We also shot a scene that had a cushion fart gag in it last week, which nearly held up production. We simply could not get through it. So it’s a great crew and a really fun set to work on.

I hear Dean takes you to a whorehouse this season. That should be fun.
Yes, we’ve shot that already. I can vouch for that. Yes, he’s trying to deflower the angel and it doesn’t go quite according to plan.

Will Castiel be helping the brothers out this year?
Most of my stuff actually is with one or both of the guys. I’m helping them sort things out but I’ve also got a mission of my own, which is revealed in the second episode. I’m there helping them help sort stuff out, but we’re also being collectively pursued by all of the forces of heaven and all of the forces of hell. We’ve got to all watch our backs pretty closely. It’s pretty intense.

So you were fired from heaven?
Yeah, I was laid off. I was fired so I can’t even collect unemployment.

Do you have powers this season?
I do have powers. My powers are slightly diminished. There are certain things I can’t do. I don’t think I’d be able to repair a person’s broken leg anymore but I do have other powers like teleportation and I believe time travel as well. I’m not totally useless yet.

But Castiel is trying to become more human, right? That’s sort of been his storyline, but I read it will be more prevalent this season.
I think Castiel is seeing more and more what the human experience is like. He’s becoming more human as time goes by, partly from his exposure to people and learning about them and partly because his powers are diminishing and he’s becoming less angelic.

Ultimately he’s not going to be a human, is he?
I don’t know the answer to that. I don’t know where that ultimately goes. But I don’t know that that would be impossible. In fact, there’s an episode that we shot this season where we flash forward to the future and in that scenario there’s, um, I don’t know, that might be too spoilery. I’m not going to say what I was going to say. Self-edit.

OK, let’s talk about your connection to Chicago then.
I went to the University of Chicago for undergrad, where I studied social theory and spent four years in the south side of Chicago, [in] Hyde Park, running like Forrest Gump up and down the midway. I loved Chicago. It’s a really great place. It’s a great place to go to school, if you’re into books and the basement of the Regenstein Library, which at the time, I was.

And you were there for four years? Did you get to do much of anything besides study?
[Laughs.] Yes, but not as much as one would probably like in their college years. I remember while we were there, there was a study of the top 400 universities and they ranked them according to various different criteria and the University of Chicago, at the time, ranked 400 out of 400. Right under the Naval Academy.

So it wasn’t the most social environment in the world. I interned briefly at WBEZ. That was awesome. I spent some time hanging out in the archives at the Field Museum picking up shrunken heads and things like that, which was really exciting.

Cool. Is there anything that happened in Chicago that sort of has stuck with you and that you kind of use all the time now?
Yeah. You know, I didn’t study acting in school and I didn’t know that I was going to go into acting when I was at Chicago, but I started goofing around a lot in character and I actually spent some of my class time pretending that I was a Russian foreign exchange student and things like that. I guess the general antics and freedom that I felt; just screwing around in character when I was in college, I think was a big factor in why I ended up going into acting as a career. It was sort of my first foray.

But then you went on to Nepal, right, to study at a Buddhist monastery? Was that before college or after college?
That was during college. I took a year off from college and went to Nepal and Tibet, yeah.

And you started a software company. You’ve done a lot of things that you don’t see on an actors resume, I guess, that often.
Yeah. I think part of what helped was that I didn’t really know that I [would end up acting]. I didn’t get into acting until a little bit later, so I had a chance to do some other stuff first. Actually, once you get into it, it does become somewhat consuming. And you don’t have as much time as it looks like you do to do other things because you’re always hunting down that next job.

I certainly, since I’ve started being a professional actor, I haven’t felt that I have had nearly as much freedom as I had before because I don’t really feel that comfortable going away, going to Nepal for example, or going work in the White House or something like that because you end up missing out on a lot of opportunities when you leave LA.

Speaking of the White House. You worked there during the Clinton administration in the Office of Presidential Personnel. Did you like working in the White House?
I did. I did in the sense that it made me realize that I didn’t want to go into politics anymore. So it was an educational experience. But frankly I didn’t have that much fun there. It was what got me into acting. I thought I was going to be a politician when I grew up and that’s what got me out of that, and actually into acting.

So what’d you do, just sort of flee Washington and then go to LA?
I did. I went directly. I didn’t know anyone in LA, loaded up the car, drove across country. It was somewhat arbitrary. It was going to be either LA or New York and NY. I’ll try that for a little while. That was a decade ago.

By  Meya|  |   interview with Misha Collins

In 2008, Misha Collins joined the cast of the CW television series Supernatural as the character Castiel, an angel sent to Earth by God to release the series lead character Dean (Jensen Ackles) from Hell to fulfill a job. Now in its fifth season, the actor will continue to appear as a series regular, working with Dean and his brother Sam (Jared Padalecki) to stop the apocalypse.

During press interviews for the show, Misha Collins talked about getting to play a bad-ass angel, who is a little bit hindered in his abilities, now that he’s been fired from Heaven.

Q: So many times in contemporary society, people think of angels as being nice, fluffy, cupid type things, and forget that in religious texts, they were bad-asses. How do you feel about getting to portray that?
Misha: I was really hoping that it was going to be a fluffy, winged, cherubic, sweet angel, maybe with hearts on his lapel. It’s too bad that I have to play a bad-ass, smiting angel. He’s scary and sexy, at the same time. I wish I didn’t have to do that, but it’s cool. I think it’s a much better version. Honestly, I don’t think they would have done the other version, except maybe for comic relief.

Q: How involved are you now in Supernatural? Ae you full-time or part-time?
Misha: I think I’m 6/7ths time. I have a contract for the whole season, so if they kill me, they have to pay me anyway. It’s a good deal.

Q: How is it working with Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki?
Misha: Jared and Jensen are a lot of fun to work with. They’re both really funny, which is actually a problem. We shot a scene last week, and Jared and Jensen were standing on either side of a doorway, and I had to walk through the doorway to talk to Bobby (Jim Beaver) and, as I walked through the door, every single time, Jared would do something like try to trip me, grab my ass, pinch me or something, to try to get me to break and laugh. So, there’s some specific challenges to working with the two of them.

Q: Have you started retaliating yet?
Misha: Yes, but in subtle and manipulative ways.

Q: What can you say about this season, as far as what your character will be up to?
Misha: Sam and Dean triggered the apocalypse. You can notice that I don’t imply myself as being culpable in this, but they triggered the apocalypse, at the end of last season, and now the apocalypse is unfurling and we’re trying to mitigate the damage. We don’t start off this season on the best of terms with one another. I’m a little angry at them for screwing up.

Q: Were you fired from Heaven for disobeying?
Misha: I’ve been laid-off from Heaven, and now I’m collecting unemployment. So, basically, we’re hunted by both the demons and the angels now, which really doesn’t make for good odds.

Q: Are you handicapped in your abilities because you’ve been laid-off?
Misha: Not only am I unemployed, but I’m handicapped. Well, I have some abilities, but there’s certain things that I can’t do anymore. For example, if you were to break your finger, I wouldn’t be able to magically heal it anymore.

Q: From a character’s perspective, what have you enjoyed most about exploring this character?
Misha: I think my favorite thing about this character has been playing with discovering what it’s like to be a human. His exposure to humanity is a learning process for him, and he’s constantly learning new things about what it is to be human. That’s the most fun.

Q: Are you actually more of a hybrid?
Misha: Yeah, I’m becoming more and more hybridized. I don’t know what the percentage is.

Q: Do you believe in the supernatural?
Misha: I think I do, yeah, but maybe not in the way that a lot of people do. I think that there are things out there that we can’t perceive, that are going on, that may appear to be supernatural, but maybe they’re just super-scientific. In other words, we don’t actually know how to explain the entire known universe, scientifically. But, there’s stuff going on that’s beyond our powers of comprehension, certainly.

By  Meya|  |   news from ausiello

Question: My daughter is a Supernatural fanatic. Can you tell us anything about season 5? Rhonda
Ausiello: According to series creator Eric Kripke, this season is all about “building Sam and Dean back up in a way that makes them older, sadder, wiser, and, ultimately, stronger. It’s funny, we’ve been feeling in many ways that this is the most optimistic season of Supernatural we’ve ever done. Because even though the exterior circumstances are a massive cluster f–k, internally, the boys aren’t tearing each other apart every episode. It’s more like, ‘Hey, maybe we’ll lose, but, dammit, let’s go down swinging.’”

  By  Meya|  |   NYPOST

Its amazing guys! NYPOST wrote about Supernatural. Check this out:

The end is nigh — in more ways than one — on “Supernatural.”

The series is bracing for what creator Eric Kripke has long maintained would be the end of the storyline that started in 2005. This season, you’ll find out once and for all whether or not the Winchester brothers, Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padakecki), can actually save the world.

“We’re really committed to climaxing a storyline that began since the inception of the show and doing it right,” Kripke says.
Caught in the midst of a war between Heaven and Hell last season, plucky demon-hunting brothers Dean and Sam Winchester were pitted against each other, each thinking that they had a better way to stop the forces hell-bent on releasing Lucifer from the fiery pit.

Dean, who’d been rescued from Hell by angels, relied on seemingly God-given angelic advice, while Sam turned to the dark side, depending on what he believed was a rogue demon’s suggestions. Sadly, the boys were misguided and, despite their best efforts, failed to stop Lucifer from rising.

This season, Lucifer — described as gentle and conflicted, the fallen angel you see at the start of Milton’s “Paradise Lost” and wearing the “meat suit” of actor Mark Pellegrino — is free to walk the earth. The boys must brace themselves for what could just be the end of the world as they know it. Or, at the very least, the end of humanity.

“It’s going to be a real blow-out season for the fans, they’ll get a lot of answers,” says Kripke of the season. “We’re certainly going to specifically reveal what the angels’ plans are for Dean and how and why exactly he’s their chosen one to fight Lucifer. In facing Lucifer, we’re going to unveil what the demons’ and angels’ plot is in this whole apocalypse.

“We’re also going to reveal another, and really final, twist in the demons’ plans for Sam,” Kripke hints.

With that kind of a “slam, bang climax” to the storyline, it seems like there won’t be anywhere left to go — surely nothing left for a sixth season of the horror movie-like cult series.

Not true, says Kripke.

“ ‘Supernatural’ has always been a show that doesn’t hold on to endless mysteries and doesn’t let the mythology collapse under it’s own weight, as happens on a lot of genre shows when they go into their fifth season and beyond,” he says.

“Even though we’re closing this chapter, there’s no reason another chapter can’t open. However this story ends, it will end with a return to the ‘Supernatural’ status quo, which is a world full of vicious monsters and demons that are ripping mankind limb from limb. There’s still going to be plenty of stories for the Winchesters.”

Besides which, stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki are under contract for a sixth season if the CW will have “Supernatural” back again next year.

While it may seem like this season is going to be all gloom and doom to reflect the finality of the storyline, never fear: Kripke promises plenty of light moments.

“It’s been really important to us to make sure that, even though the show is about the end of world, it’s not grim,” he says. “It’s more exciting, quirky, funny and thrilling than it is dour — we’ve been calling it the ‘party apocalypse.’ ”

SUPERNATURALThursday, 9 p.m., The CW

Series creator Eric Kripke’s sneak peek at this season’s upcoming “Supernatural” episodes:

* Paris Hilton plays a shapeshifter that attacks the Winchesters. “She’s a hell of a good sport — she has a lot of dialogue poking a substantial amount of fun at herself and she was cool with it.” And, “Sam [gets] in a very vicious fight to the death with Gandhi.”

* The Trickster (Richard Speight Jr.) returns. He “zaps the boys into a world of different TV programs. One’s about sexy nurses and doctors, like ‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ another one is an overly grim, quippy procedural show that’s suspiciously like ‘CSI.’ They’re also in a sitcom in which ‘Supernatural’ is filmed before a live studio audience.”

* A sequel to last season’s episode in which the guys learn that they’re the heroes of a series of cult novels. “They attend a convention for the Supernatural books, where everyone dresses like Sam and Dean. There’s a Q&A panel where fans point out all the flaws of the books — all the things that we privately talk about in the writers’ room as the flaws of the show.”

My friend Mel was on Supernatural Convention in Vancouver last weekend. Read about her experience:

Meeting Misha ... again
I met Misha before at the Cherry Hill Supernatural Convention back in March and I was equally excited to meet him again at the convention in Vancouver this past weekend. His Q&A was great. He's incredibly smart and witty. He'd get the occasional weird question thrown at him and answer it hilariously. At the auction, I won one of the Castiel banners and got front of the line passes to get it signed by Misha. When it was time to get the banner signed, I went right up to Misha and asked him to sign it. He signed it a big as he could. lol. He asked how much it cost ($410) and when I told him, he said it didn't go for that much. I said in Michigan money (due to the economy) that was a lot of money to me. He agreed that the conversion rate in Michigan was different than anywhere else. haha. On my way to leave the autograph area, he told me to take care and I told him the same back.

Later, I got more autographs when I returned with my family. He recognized us from the Cherry Hill convention. It was hilarious because he squinted his eyes and was like, "You guys look familiar". It's amazing that he remembered us with all of the recent conventions he's been too. I felt special. haha. We gave him a gift t-shirt that said "Team Castiel" on it, which he seemed to like. Then he offered us some mints. :)

I feel incredibly lucky to have met him twice now. He is such a wonderful and sweet guy and will always remain one of my favorite actors.

Here is the banner. It takes up the entire wall above my bed. :D

Mel

By  Meya| |   Interview with eric kripke

TV Guide Magazine interview with the father of Supernatural:

Supernatural exec producer Eric Kripke gave us such good scoop on Season 5 back in July, so we thought we’d go back and try for some more. With new episodes set to return Thursday, September 10, the cult show’s creator tells us about writing for God, Castiel’s future, President Sarah Palin and what 2014 will look like for the Winchester Brothers. Think zombies. And then there’s what we all want to know: Could there be a Season 6?

You have Lucifer [Mark Pellegrino] as a character. How about God? Where’s the High Holy been?
I know it sounds nuts, but God will be a character on Supernatural this season. He’s vanished from Heaven, which is why the Angels have taken over the joint, but we’re planning on God’s return, probably around the end of the season. This story thread has generated much hilarity in the Supernatural writer’s room. We ask ourselves questions like, “Well, what’s God’s motivation in this scene?” And then we start laughing, cause, you know, Gossip Girl just ain’t having these problems.

How will God enter into the battle?
Tune in.

Who will play Him—or Her? (Well, why not?)
You’ll see.

What can you tell us about Castiel [Misha Collins] and his future on the show? Haven’t the Angels turned against him? Will he basically be in the same condition as the Hunters?
Cass returns to the show as a hunted fugitive. All of Heaven is out to kill him. Some of his powers are beginning to fade. In short, he’s totally boned. But on top of that, he has an interesting story arc. Now that he’s cut off from heaven, he’s learning more and more, how to be human. Which leads to stories that are sometimes funny, sometimes poignant, and hopefully both. But he still looks the same—trenchcoat, tie, Misha’s face. No worries there.

Will any of the hunters be back this season to help Sam [Jared Padalecki] and Dean [Jensen Ackles] and Bobby [Jim Beaver]? If so, which ones?
We plan on bringing back practically every hunter who’s alive and kicking. It’s the Apocalypse, and it’s all hands on deck. Ellen [Samantha Ferris]. Jo [Alona Tal]. Rufus [Steven Williams]. Also, Chuck [Rob Benedict], though he’s technically not a hunter. I love bringing back characters that the boys have a history with—it leads to more interesting scenes—at least, I hope they’re more interesting. Who knows? You tell me.

How will the Apocalypse develop through the season? Will it literally be hell on earth?
Well, that's the tension of the season. Things start bad—North Korea's arming up, swine flu rips across the country, hurricanes slam into American cities—oh wait, all that is going on now. But seriously, we start bad and get worse. And the big question is, can Sam and Dean short-circuit the Apocalypse, before the planet is roasted alive?

What will we see when the show leaps five years into the future? Were you joking at Comic-Con when you said Sarah Palin would be President? If you weren't, is that an indication of the aforesaid hell on earth?
No, we weren't joking. Like I said, it is the Apocalypse, after all. Beyond that, the world in 2014 is a entertainingly nasty place to be. The Croatian virus, introduced in Season 2, has spread worldwide, resulting in a 28 Days Later situation. Our band of hunters have resorted to living in the woods, protecting as many terrified survivors as they can. When we meet our heroes in the future, we'll see that time has changed them. Especially Castiel. But on the plus side, Chuck is living with the guys at the refugee camp, and he's still as neurotic as ever.

Any hints on the infamous Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse?
They don't ride horses. They drive muscle cars. The first horseman will be played by Titus Welliver, a brilliant actor and one of the regulars on Deadwood.

Will we see the boys’ dad, John Winchester, again? If so, could it be with an actor other than the super busy Jeffrey Dean Morgan?
It will either be Jeffrey, or we won't do it. And yes, it is a matter of working out schedules. I'd love to make something work, if it was possible.

Are you looking to wind the show up as you have often said at the end of Season 5?
At the beginning of Supernatural, I had a five year plan, and, with some notable exceptions, I've stuck with that. And so, now that I've come this far, I feel I gotta take it the rest of the way home. Yes, this season, we are going to wrap up this storyline. We're not going to stretch it out into Season 6, or otherwise dilute it. We're going to make sure it's told with a bang. This chapter is over, but that's not to say another chapter won't begin. If we returned for Season 6, we would commence a new epic storyline.

With your competition this season—Grey’s Anatomy, CSI, Fringe and the NBC comedies—do you identify with Sam and Dean? Your doughty little show against the big guns?
Yes. I've always felt like the screaming Japanese tourist underneath Godzilla and Mothra. But honestly, that's where I like to be. I like being the underdog. That way, you can still surprise people.

HARD RIDE is directed by Penelope Buitenhuis and also stars ROBOCOP’s Miguel Ferrer and Laura Mennell of TRICK ’R TREAT and WATCHMEN. “It’s about an old curse and demon bikers,” Isabelle tells us. “I literally have only scanned the script because I just got it last week. I have a pretty large part in it—at least, I don’t die till the very end.”

She also expires in RAMPAGE, which stars Brendan Fletcher (who co-starred with Isabelle in the GINGER SNAPS sequels as well as FREDDY VS. JASON) as a disaffected young man who straps on a homemade Kevlar suit and goes on a killing spree with automatic weapons. “It’s about this kid who kind of takes the idea of trying to prove a point against society a little too far,” she says. “I am in literally one scene with Brendan, my favorite actor. I’m in a salon, and he basically comes in and just shoots us all. Uwe never actually said a word to me; I just arrived, got shot, said hi to Brendan and left. He’s a very busy director, and just left us to ourselves.”

Isabelle, who has also appeared in the Sci Fi Channel flick OGRE and did a two-episode stint on SUPERNATURAL since her last venture into lycanthropic territory in 2004’s GINGER SNAPS BACK: THE BEGINNING, says that successful film series hasn’t typecast her as a horror actress. “I just sort of go out for whatever comes my way. Over the last 10 years, there seem to have been more horror films made in general, so just by default, I’m gonna be in more then I would necessarily go after. I don’t actually watch horror movies all that much.” And despite the current toward sequelizing or rehashing practically every popular genre franchise of the last two decades, the actress says there’s been no talk of further GINGER SNAPS adventures—“Not to me, anyway.”

Ask and answer - SPOILER!!!!!!

Kara in Wichita, Kan.: I need Supernatural scoop!
We've met young Dean and young Sam in past Supernatural flashbacks, but season five will include a flash-forward to 70-year-old Dean Winchester, and he's exactly the old coot you'd expect him to be.

Kym in Philadelphia: I'm a huge fan of Supernatural! I'm just wondering if Alona Tal is reprising her role as Jo in season five as a regular or if it's just a one-off?
So far, both Jo and Ellen Harvelle are back on Supernatural for just one episode, but they could definitely return later in the season for a second engagement.

Superantural creator Eric Kripke is sticking by his word that his CW thriller will bow out next May after five seasons. Sort of.

“I did set out [to] tell a five-season storyline,” the exec maintains. “Quite frankly, I never expected [the show] to make it to five years. But now that we’re in our fifth year, I have every intention of ending the story with a bang and not drawing it out our watering it down.”

Relax, Supe Nazis. Here’s that catch I promised you…“That having been said,” Kripke continues, “I’m looking at this season as the last chapter in this particular story. That doesn’t mean there can’t be a new story. Buffy did it. The X-Files did it. You close a chapter on a big mythology storyline and then you begin a new one.

“One of the things I like about this show is we don’t draw out mysteries endlessly,” he adds. “We’ll answer a bunch of questions this season and then pose some new ones next season.”

Of course, that’s assuming there is a next season. The CW has yet to renew Supernatural for a sixth go-’round. And even if the show does come back, would Kripke still be involved? “I don’t know,” hedges Supe’s fearless leader, who doesn’t have a deal in place beyond season 5. “I’m going to cross that bridge when I get to it.”

What say you, Supe fans? Would you prefer to see Sam and Dean go out with a bang next May? Or are you cool with the show continuing on and running the risk of limping to the finish line like The X-Files and Buffy? And the even bigger question: Is there Supernatural life after Kripke? Sound off below!
